Gyeonggi Province Governor's Official Residence Transformed into a Communication Space for Residents... Name Contest Open Until the 18th Gyeonggi Province Governor's Official Residence

[Asia Economy (Suwon) = Reporter Lee Young-gyu] Gyeonggi Province has decided to utilize the Gyeonggi Province Governor's official residence as a space for communication and meetings with residents, and has launched a naming contest for the residence open to all residents until the 18th of this month.

This contest follows Governor Kim Dong-yeon's intention that "the 8th term of Gyeonggi Province prioritizes communication with residents."

Governor Kim, while still a governor-elect, announced on the 20th of last month his intention to use the Gyeonggi Province Governor's official residence located in Hwaseo-dong, Paldal-gu, Suwon City, as a space for meetings with various residents.

The province plans to preserve the official residence, a modern cultural heritage site, while utilizing it as a space for resident communication and meetings, including brown bag meetings (comfortable and informal discussions over lunch), dinner communication sessions, and events for provincial government offices and departments.

The province will announce the winning entry on the 22nd after review by a separate judging committee. The selected winner will receive Gyeonggi local currency or gift certificates worth 300,000 KRW, and seven runners-up will each receive Gyeonggi local currency or gift certificates worth 100,000 KRW.

A provincial official evaluated, "Since Governor Kim Dong-yeon intends to use the official residence as a communication space with residents, it is very meaningful that residents directly participate in naming it."

The Gyeonggi Province Governor's official residence is a detached house with a total floor area of 813.98㎡, consisting of one basement floor and two above-ground floors. Completed in 1967, it has been used as the residence and office space for successive governors and was registered as a modern cultural heritage site in July 2017. According to the utilization plan, Governor Kim will continue to maintain the residence at his own expense without provincial budget support.
