The Yeongdeungpo Police Station in Seoul announced on the 22nd that it received a report that Officer A, belonging to the Gangseo Police Station, was involved in an assault.
Officer A is accused of hitting a man, Mr. B, who was passing by in a heavily intoxicated state on a street in Yeongdeungpo-dong, Yeongdeungpo-gu, around 4 a.m. on the 21st.
During the police investigation, Mr. B reportedly stated that Officer A sexually harassed a woman at the time, and when he tried to intervene, Officer A suddenly assaulted him.
The police plan to verify the exact facts as the statements of Officer A and Mr. B conflict.
The Gangseo Police Station announced that Officer A is scheduled to be placed on standby duty within today.
