Asiana Airlines Joins 'Value Steps' Campaign for Youth Preparing for Independence

[Asia Economy Reporter Kiho Sung] Asiana Airlines announced on the 16th that it will conduct an on-site tour and job special lecture for 20 youth preparing for independence at the Asiana Airlines headquarters located in Gangseo-gu, Seoul.

This special lecture was held as part of Asiana Airlines' participation as a member company of the K-ESG Alliance in the ‘Gachi Georeum’ campaign hosted by the Federation of Korean Industries and the social enterprise Brothers Keeper in May. The ‘Gachi Georeum’ campaign supports youth preparing for independence who are leaving child welfare facilities at the age of 18, with a total of nine companies participating.

Participants will tour Asiana Airlines’ Integrated Control Center and Training Building, followed by a job special lecture introducing various airline jobs such as ▲understanding the cabin crew role ▲work procedures of aircraft maintenance technicians ▲necessary competencies related to the aviation industry.

In particular, the Asiana Airlines Education Donation Volunteer Group, which is in charge of the job special lecture, is the first education donation specialized volunteer group in the aviation industry, founded in 2013. It consists of 186 employees with aviation expertise, including active flight crew, cabin crew, aircraft maintenance technicians, and flight operations managers, and has conducted a total of 3,367 lectures for 304,696 young people with more professional and systematic educational volunteer know-how since its launch.

Kim Jin-kyung, a cabin crew member giving the lecture that day, expressed, “I will do my best to nurture the dreams of the youth who will carry the future of Korea’s aviation industry.”
