Promotion of Designating One-Way Traffic in Certain Sections and More
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Yoon Jamin] The autonomous district has taken the initiative to improve the traffic system in Cheomdan District, a representative traffic congestion area in Gwangju.
Gwangsan-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City, announced on the 12th that it held a residents' briefing session on the 10th to explain the traffic system improvement plan for Cheomdan District and collect residents' opinions.
The district is promoting the "Cheomdan District Traffic System Improvement Project," which designates part of Cheomdan Jungang-ro 152beon-gil as a one-way street to create smooth traffic flow.
This project is being promoted after Gwangsan-gu reviewed the feasibility following a proposal from the Cheomdan 1-dong Residents' Autonomy Committee.
The target section, Cheomdan Jungang-ro 152beon-gil, is a narrow road where two-way traffic is difficult due to constant parking, causing inconvenience to residents visiting the Dong Administrative Welfare Center and nearby stores.
Accordingly, Gwangsan-gu decided to designate part of the road as a one-way street and held a briefing session to listen to residents' opinions on this matter.
Residents and store operators near the target section who attended the residents' briefing session listened to explanations about the background of the one-way street promotion, designated sections, procedures, etc., and provided various opinions through Q&A.
Earlier, a survey was conducted for 50 days from February to collect opinions from residents, merchants, and members of social organizations.
A Gwangsan-gu official said, "We will synthesize the opinions presented in the preliminary survey and residents' briefing session and promote the traffic system improvement project in consultation with the Gwangsan Police Station, prioritizing the resolution of residents' inconvenience."
