[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Hye-sun] The Korea Communications Commission (KCC) will dispatch two mid-level government officials to President-elect Yoon Seok-yeol's Presidential Transition Committee.
According to the Transition Committee and the KCC on the 21st, the KCC has dispatched Kim Young-gwan, Director of the Broadcasting Infrastructure Bureau, and Lee So-ra, Head of the User Protection Division, as expert and practical committee members, respectively. Director Kim is expected to be in charge of the broadcasting and media sector in the Social Welfare and Culture Subcommittee. Head Lee will be responsible for the Science, Technology, and Education Subcommittee. Initially, the KCC recommended Bae Jung-seop, Planning and Coordination Officer, and Kim Young-gwan, Director of the Broadcasting Infrastructure Bureau, as expert members to be dispatched to the advisory committee of the Transition Committee.
The secretary of the Social Welfare and Culture Subcommittee is Im Eui-ja, a member of the People Power Party. Transition committee members include Professor Ahn Sang-hoon of Seoul National University’s Department of Social Welfare, Professor Baek Kyung-ran of Sungkyunkwan University School of Medicine, and Kim Do-sik, Deputy Mayor for Political Affairs of Seoul City. Professor Ahn has advised welfare policies in previous governments, and Professor Baek is an infectious disease specialist serving as the president of the Korean Society of Infectious Diseases. Deputy Mayor Kim previously served as the chief secretary to Ahn Cheol-soo, the chairman of the Transition Committee. It appears that Deputy Mayor Kim Do-sik will be responsible for the broadcasting sector. Earlier, through his candidate pledge booklet, President-elect Yoon announced the establishment of the 'Media Innovation Committee,' a dedicated organization to promote the media and content industry.
