Yeosu Gwangyang Port Authority Donates 30 Million KRW to 'Hope 2022 Sharing Campaign'


[Asia Economy Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Heo Seonsik] Yeosu Gwangyang Port Authority (President Cha Minsik) participated in the unveiling ceremony of the ‘Hope 2022 Sharing Campaign’ Jeonnam Eastern Region Love Thermometer Tower, which delivers warmth to welfare-vulnerable groups and social welfare facilities in the local community, on the 3rd and donated 30 million KRW.


The Love Thermometer Tower, co-hosted by the Community Chest of Korea and Yeosu City, is set up until January 31 next year with a fundraising goal of 8.932 billion KRW. The donations will be used to support social welfare facilities such as rehabilitation centers for the severely disabled, nursing homes for the elderly, shelters for migrant women, as well as low-income and near-poverty households.


Vice President Choi Yeoncheol, who attended the unveiling ceremony, said, “Although everyone is going through a difficult time due to COVID-19, if the hearts of citizens who share together come together, we can achieve a sharing temperature of 100 degrees,” adding, “We will continue to pursue win-win cooperation that serves the local community and practices sharing.”


Meanwhile, since its establishment, the authority has been conducting various win-win cooperation activities that can help neighbors in need, including the Love Kimchi Sharing event for socially marginalized groups, coastal cleanup activities, and home welfare activities for those with mobility difficulties.
