120 Donations Over 3 Years Through This Year, Goods Worth 170 Million KRW Donated
From 8 Franchise Stores in 2019 to 17 Stores This Year

[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Yuri] Emart24 announced on the 30th that the number of franchise stores participating in the Companion Donation Campaign has increased to 17 this year.


Emart24 started the Companion Donation Campaign as a social contribution activity tailored to the characteristics of its nationwide franchise business in 2019, aiming to help underprivileged groups across the country together with its franchise stores. The Companion Donation Campaign operates on a matching grant basis, where Emart24 headquarters matches the amount (goods) donated by the franchise stores to the donation recipients.


Starting with 8 franchise stores and 23 sharing events in 2019, the number of participating franchise stores has increased to 17 this year. Over the three-year cumulative period (2019 to November 2021), 120 donation events were held, donating goods worth approximately 170 million KRW.


Franchise stores wishing to participate in the Companion Donation can decide the donation amount, donation frequency (monthly, quarterly, semi-annually, annually), and donation type (sponsored goods or cash) to make donations to places in need together with the headquarters. Sponsored goods mainly consist of daily necessities such as ramen and tissue paper, and in the case of cash, the headquarters deposits the same amount donated by the franchise store directly to the donation recipient.


The funds required for the Companion Donation come from the Emart24 Hope Delivery Fund, and employee participation naturally follows, the company stated. Hope Delivery is a fund-raising system based on a matching grant method, where employees voluntarily donate a certain amount from their monthly salary, and the company adds an equivalent amount to the fund.


Emart24 plans to continuously expand the Companion Donation Campaign so that more franchise stores can practice sharing in various regions nationwide. Kim Kyunghoon, head of Emart24 CSR team, said, "We are conducting various social contribution activities tailored to the characteristics of the franchise business," adding, "We will continue to expand the Companion Donation Campaign with franchise stores to provide help across the country."


Meanwhile, besides the Companion Donation Campaign, Emart24 carries out social contribution activities through three main pillars?stores, store owners, and logistics networks?under the motto of practicing sharing suited to the nature of the business. Utilizing its nationwide store network, it collaborates with the National Police Agency to participate in campaigns such as finding missing children and preventing child abuse. Emart24 also operates a disaster relief system that quickly delivers relief supplies through its logistics network spread across the country in case of disasters and emergencies.
