[Should I Start a Business Too] Large-Capacity Cost-Effective Coffee 'The Venti'... "Quickly with Raw Material Portion Packaging System"

[Asia Economy Reporter Moon Hyewon] There is a cost-effective coffee brand with an average annual store growth rate of 45%. The Venti opened its first store in front of Pusan National University in March 2014 and surpassed 100 stores in less than a year. Since then, after 7 years, the number of franchise stores nationwide has increased to 761 as of this year.

Founded with the purpose of providing good quality coffee and beverages at reasonable prices, The Venti is Korea's first large-size coffee specialty brand. As the brand name intuitively suggests, most of the coffee and beverages are served in large sizes.

To offer coffee that maximizes the strengths of each menu, The Venti is the first large-size coffee franchise to use different beans for Americano and Cafe Latte. The milk used in latte drinks is Seoul Milk 1A grade, and vanilla latte and hazelnut latte use powder to enhance a deeper and richer flavor, strengthening competitiveness.

Recently, they also launched a Half Venti size menu to increase flexibility in sizing.

The Venti headquarters supports existing franchisees to operate their stores stably rather than implementing one-time policies to increase the number of store openings. For example, they do not charge any monthly fees for essential store operation services such as the payment system (P.O.S.), coupon accumulation and customer management app, and in-store music streaming service, bearing all costs themselves and providing these services free of charge.

Additionally, to improve store operation systems, they conducted two years of R&D and introduced the industry's first ‘ingredient portion packaging system.’ This system allows making one drink per pack without measuring the base during beverage preparation, shortening time and reducing menu loss rates, effectively saving costs.

In line with the untact era, they launched an online training service called ‘Wise The Venti Life’ last year for Venti Friends, part-timers working at The Venti stores. Through this, Venti Friends can learn whenever and wherever they want without restrictions on place or time. The training program covers overall store operation topics by theme, including hygiene rules, menu preparation, and service.

The Venti minimizes franchise commission burdens through active B2B contracts with major delivery platforms such as Baedal Minjok, Yogiyo, and Coupang Eats. Recently, coinciding with the rise of With Corona due to increased vaccination, they are conducting additional promotions through Kakao Gift, an online gifting platform, so that customers who receive gifts naturally visit the stores.

To strengthen competitiveness in the increasingly fierce coffee and beverage franchise market, they are establishing ‘The Venti Roasting & Powder Factory’ on a 10,000-pyeong site in Jeungpyeong, Chungbuk, scheduled to be completed in the first half of next year.

Park Suam, CEO of The Venti, said, “The Venti is expanding bold facility investments for factory equipment, establishing an R&D department, and recruiting talents in various fields such as product development, marketing, and store management to become a competitive franchise headquarters.” He added, “We will continue to be a brand that constantly strives with the spirit of pioneering the cost-effective coffee and beverage market.”
