[Asia Economy Reporter Ki-min Lee] The Taliban, who have regained power in Afghanistan, announced plans to demand compensation from the United States, claiming that U.S. military operations caused civilian casualties and destruction of infrastructure in Afghanistan.

According to Sputnik News on the 24th (local time), Zabihullah Mujahid, acting Deputy Minister of Culture and Information in the Taliban's Afghan interim government, stated, "Many attacks mistakenly carried out by U.S. forces damaged homes and Islamic mosques, resulting in civilian deaths and destruction of medical facilities," adding, "We will demand compensation."

He also mentioned plans to file complaints with the United Nations (UN) and other international bodies regarding civilian casualties caused by gunfire during the U.S. withdrawal from Afghanistan last month.

.

He claimed, "There were civilian deaths, including women and children, due to actions near the airport and throughout Kabul," and added, "This is a matter of justice and goes against humanity."

However, Sputnik News noted that Mujahid did not specify the exact locations and times of the U.S. airstrikes and shootings mentioned in the interview.

Earlier, on the 29th of last month, a U.S. drone strike in Kabul city killed 10 civilians, including up to seven children, and on the 17th, the U.S. military admitted the strike was a "tragic mistake."
