DL Energy Begins Commercial Operation of 'Tafila Wind Power Plant' in Jordan


[Asia Economy Reporter Onyu Lim] DL Energy announced on the 2nd that it has completed the construction of the Tafila Wind Power Plant in Jordan and commenced commercial operations.


This power plant is a project jointly developed by DL Energy and Korea Southern Power. From the project planning stage to site acquisition, permits, power purchase agreements, financing, and construction, the company managed the entire project and successfully completed the construction.


The power plant is located in the Tafila region, 140 km south of Amman, the capital of Jordan. The total generation capacity is 51.75 MW, which is expected to reliably supply electricity to approximately 50,000 households. DL Energy will generate stable revenue for the next 20 years under a power purchase agreement with the National Electric Power Company (NEPCO) of Jordan.


With the commercial operation of the Tafila Wind Power Plant, DL Energy now owns a total of 200 MW of wind power plants, adding to the existing 150 MW wind power plant operated in Pakistan. Additionally, including 40 MW of solar power plants in Chile and domestically, and the 43 MW Poseung Biomass Power Plant, the company has secured a total renewable energy generation capacity of 283 MW.


A DL Energy official stated, "We will continue to comprehensively review the environment, resources, infrastructure, and residential conditions of each country to proceed with investments."
