[Asia Economy (Sejong Jeong Il-woong reporter)] Sejong City announced on the 29th that it identified and supported 9,095 vulnerable households in the first half of this year.
Through this, the city's welfare support performance increased by 2,293 households (33.7%) compared to the same period last year (6,802 households) in the first half of this year.
Behind the rise in welfare support performance was the discovery of welfare blind spots using the Social Security Information System (big data).
For example, in the first half of this year, the city predicted and selected at-risk households using big data information, and identified and selected welfare support targets through counseling and investigation by customized welfare teams in eup, myeon, and dong.
Subsequently, 267 households received social security benefits such as living and housing expenses, 186 households received emergency welfare support, and at the same time, measures were taken to prevent these households from falling into crisis situations by linking private welfare services such as registering households for integrated case management.
The city plans to actively link public and private services in the second half of the year by discovering at-risk households through big data utilization and field-centered efforts in eup, myeon, and dong.
Lee Chun-hee, Mayor of Sejong City, said, “The prolonged COVID-19 pandemic and heatwaves increase the likelihood of greater difficulties for at-risk households. We will continue to proactively identify at-risk households in the second half of the year to ensure that welfare support reaches marginalized neighbors around us.”
