[Asia Economy Reporter Seungjin Lee] SPC Group's packaging production affiliate SPC Pack announced on the 27th that it has signed an 'Eco-friendly Packaging Development Business Agreement' with Clean Nara and SK General Chemical.
Through this agreement, SPC Pack will jointly develop eco-friendly packaging with SK General Chemical and supply it to Clean Nara, which plans to use it as outer packaging for products such as toilet paper and facial tissues.
The packaging being developed this time utilizes residual synthetic resin that is inevitably discarded during the general packaging production process. Until now, the leftover synthetic resin after processing could not be reused due to quality degradation issues. SPC Pack and SK General Chemical have developed a film using the residual synthetic resin PIR, which is expected to contribute to resource circulation and carbon reduction by applying it to Clean Nara products.
Kim Chang-dae, CEO of SPC Pack, said, "Actively recycling resources discarded during the production process is very important from an environmental protection perspective," and added, "In line with SPC Group's ESG management policy, we will continue to develop eco-friendly materials from various perspectives."
Meanwhile, since March, SPC Pack has been conducting eco-friendly packaging development business agreements with SK General Chemical, SKC, Lotte Chemical, Hanwha Compound, and others, and is promoting the application of various food packaging materials used by Paris Baguette, Baskin Robbins, SPC Samlip, and others. In addition, last year, SPC Pack accelerated its ESG management by becoming the first in the food packaging printing industry to obtain all three national green certifications, including the 'Green Specialized Company' certification, 'Green Technology,' and 'Green Product' certifications.
