[Asia Economy Reporter Dongwoo Lee] Hanjin announced on the 12th that it will start a courier service on the KakaoT app in partnership with Kakao Mobility.


To this end, last week at the Kakao Mobility headquarters located in Seongnam City, key officials including Hanjin CEO Nosam Seok, Hanjin Vice President in charge of Future Growth Strategy and Marketing Hyunmin Cho, Kakao Mobility CEO Geungseon Ryu, and Vice President in charge of Business Division Kyujin Ahn attended and signed a business agreement to operate a courier service based on the KakaoT platform.


The KakaoT platform-based courier service is easy for anyone to use and features an automatic payment system to enhance convenience. In particular, items with a total dimension sum of 140cm and weighing up to 20kg can be sent at a single flat rate of 4,000 KRW, which is cheaper than regular personal courier services.


Hanjin previously introduced the country's first personal courier brand, 'Pabalma,' in 1992. In addition to general personal courier services, it has expanded its courier network by collaborating with Emart24, 365Plus, IGA Mart, Nonghyup, and Saemaeul Geumgo, utilizing living infrastructure spaces.


Hanjin also provides various personal courier services unique to Hanjin Courier, including the gas station-based courier service 'Homepick,' unmanned locker courier services responding to the increasing demand for contactless and secure delivery, as well as golf courier and airport courier services.


A Hanjin official stated, "With the launch of the KakaoT platform-based courier service, we will expand the scope of cooperation between the two companies and continuously discover new business models such as autonomous driving for courier vehicles and unmanned robot delivery services utilizing parking lots in large buildings."
