[Asia Economy Reporter Ryu Tae-min] It was revealed that the driver of the victim vehicle was also intoxicated after a member of the US Forces Korea caused a traffic accident while driving under the influence.


According to the police on the 31st, Sergeant A of the US Forces Korea collided with the rear of Mr. B's vehicle ahead while driving on a road in Yongsan-gu, Seoul. When the police arrived after receiving the accident report and conducted breathalyzer tests on both parties, Sergeant A's blood alcohol concentration was found to be above 0.03%, the level for license suspension, and the victim vehicle driver was measured at above 0.08%, the level for license cancellation, resulting in both being booked on charges of drunk driving under the Road Traffic Act.


On the same day, the police stated that Sergeant A was booked and handed over to the US military police.


A police official said, "We are investigating whether there were any injuries related to Sergeant A's traffic accident, and the license status is being confirmed through the US Forces Korea."
