[Asia Economy Reporter Onyu Lim] On the 25th, the Seoul Metropolitan Government held the Urban and Architectural Joint Committee's Authorized Subcommittee and announced on the 26th that it had amended and approved the modification plan for the Hoehyeon District Unit Plan.
The Hoehyeon District Unit Plan area was designated to improve the deteriorated environment around Hoehyeon-dong and to strengthen downtown commercial and support functions by reflecting related plans such as the Seoul Station area urban regeneration activation plan.
Through this reorganization, the excessively designated joint development plan was changed to allow landowners to develop autonomously, and a pedestrian-centered plan was established to enhance residents' convenience.
Additionally, a plan was established to improve the deteriorated regional environment by inducing uses to prevent downtown hollowing and to activate tourism and culture.
A Seoul city official stated, "With this decision, we expect to strengthen downtown commercial functions and revitalize the surrounding areas."
