[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Yong-woo] The thought of the ‘citizen’ was simply to help the police officer who was running.
A citizen who risked danger and physically stopped a fleeing drunk driver with his own Carnival vehicle is being awarded.
According to the Busan Police Agency, at around 7:10 a.m. on the 10th, Lieutenant Go Byung-guk of the Traffic Division at Haeundae Police Station, who was managing traffic on his way to work in front of Homeplus Centum in U-dong, Haeundae-gu, Busan, noticed a van standing on the road.
Even though the signal changed, the vehicle did not move, and just as the officers who had been watching the vehicle got out of the patrol car to look inside, the vehicle suddenly started moving.
The police officers knocked on the vehicle door and demanded it stop, but the vehicle recklessly accelerated and began to flee.
A man in his 40s, Mr. A, who saw this, realized that the vehicle was involved in a crime as several police officers tried to stop it but it continued to escape.

Mr. A pushed his own Carnival vehicle in front of the fleeing vehicle to stop it.
With Mr. A’s help, the police arrested the driver of the stopped vehicle. The driver, Mr. B (male, in his 40s), was in a state of intoxication equivalent to license cancellation level.
He had fallen asleep for about 10 minutes while waiting at a traffic signal after driving under the influence.
The police expressed their gratitude to Mr. A for risking danger to assist the officers. He will be awarded a certificate of appreciation and a reward for his report for preventing a dangerous traffic accident that could have occurred during the morning commute.
