[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Bong-ju] The world-renowned electronic group Daft Punk has announced their disbandment after 28 years since their formation.

On the 22nd (local time), Daft Punk uploaded a new video titled "Epilogue" on their official channel.

The video depicted one of the two members exploding along with a bomb. Following this, the phrase "1993~2021" appeared.

Fans suspected that the video hinted at their retirement or disbandment, as Daft Punk was formed in 1993.

Soon after, major international media reported the news of Daft Punk's disbandment. Daft Punk did not disclose any specific reasons for the band's dissolution.

Daft Punk was formed in 1993 in Paris, France, by Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo and Thomas Bangalter. They gained recognition during the late 1990s by sparking the French house music boom.

Their fourth studio album, "Random Access Memories," featuring the hit single "Get Lucky," achieved great success and won "Album of the Year" and "Record of the Year" at the 2014 Grammy Awards.

In South Korea, they gained popularity with songs such as "Da Funk," "One More Time," "Something About Us," and "Get Lucky."
