[Asia Economy Reporter Park Hyesook] Bucheon City in Gyeonggi Province is alleviating the economic burden of young job seekers by providing free rental of interview suits through the "Lightning-Struck Suit" project.
Since its launch in 2019, the "Lightning-Struck Suit" project has symbolized encouragement and good luck for young people struggling with employment difficulties, much like stamping a lightning-struck jujube tree.
Last year, 683 young job seekers benefited from the program. A survey conducted among users showed a satisfaction rate of 95%, with the one-stop mobile service particularly enhancing user convenience.
The rental items include a complete suit set: jackets, pants, shirts, blouses, skirts, neckties, belts, and shoes. The rental period is 3 nights and 4 days. First-time users are recommended to visit in person to receive expert styling advice and simple alterations.
This year, the rental store is located in New Phoenix (422-6 Bangbae-dong), Seoul. Operating hours are from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. on weekdays and from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturdays.
Meanwhile, Bucheon City is actively promoting initiatives such as the "Dream Center," "Bucheon Youth Tomorrow (My Job)," and the "Bucheon Home&Job Project" to discover and support jobs for young people. For employment-related inquiries, contact the Bucheon Job Center at 032-625-8431~9.
