Interactive Online Safety Training Using Video Conferencing Apps
[Asia Economy Reporter Jong-il Park] Seocho-gu (Mayor Eunhee Cho) is converting safety education for construction-related personnel to an online video conferencing platform starting from the 22nd, becoming the first autonomous district in Seoul to do so, due to difficulties in face-to-face activities caused by the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic.
Previously, safety education for construction-related personnel was conducted face-to-face every Wednesday and Friday by construction safety experts from the Regional Construction Safety Center for personnel involved in demolition and commencement of construction. The education covered key safety management laws and policies, safety facility installation standards during demolition and various construction works, and accident cases during construction. However, since last year, the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic has made it difficult to conduct normal education sessions.
Accordingly, the district plans to use the video conferencing app Zoom to deliver the educational content just like face-to-face sessions, provide interactive education that allows participants to ask questions and receive answers, and minimize the spread of COVID-19 caused by in-person meetings. This continuous education aims to create a safe construction environment.
The education will be conducted as follows: safety education for demolition-related personnel every Wednesday and safety education for construction-related personnel every Friday. Those who wish to attend the education should submit an application form via email or fax to the district office’s Architecture Division. Afterward, they will be individually guided to access the provided link using a PC or mobile device equipped with a front camera.
Additionally, the district will conduct both application submissions and issuance of completion certificates in a non-face-to-face manner, further strengthening online-centered education.
Information and detailed guidelines about the education can be found on the Seocho-gu Office website.
For more details, inquiries can be made to the Architecture Division of Seocho-gu Office.
Meanwhile, the district has been consistently focusing on safety not only through safety education but also by conducting ‘Safety Facility Inspections at Construction Sites’ and ‘Safety Inspections of Small-scale Aged Buildings.’
Seocho-gu Mayor Eunhee Cho stated, “By systematizing construction site safety management through interactive online safety education, we will create a safe city Seocho where residents can be happy.”
