[Asia Economy Reporter Kum Boryeong] As the COVID-19 pandemic prolongs and travel demand sharply declines, Hana Tour, the leading company in the travel industry, has decided to extend unpaid leave.
According to the travel industry on the 15th, Hana Tour recently announced that it will extend unpaid leave for all employees for four months, from next month until March of next year.
Due to the impact of COVID-19, Hana Tour had implemented paid leave from March to May. Since June, unpaid leave has been applied except for essential personnel.
With government employment retention subsidies, employees have been able to receive 50% of their base salary until this month, but from next month, they will not receive any salary. Hana Tour explained, "As the government's employment retention subsidy support ends this month, we have decided to extend unpaid leave."
Hana Tour recorded a large-scale operating loss in the third quarter of this year. The consolidated operating loss was 30.2 billion KRW. Sales amounted to 10.074 billion KRW, down 94.5% compared to the same period last year.
