[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Yong-woo] During a period when job creation was stalled due to COVID-19, Busan City received the National Job Award. As a prize, they secured a warm "Chuseok gift" of up to 400 million KRW in incentive project funds.

On the 29th, Busan City won the Grand Prize at the "National Local Government Job Awards" ceremony held at the Government Sejong Convention Center.

At this event hosted by the Ministry of Employment and Labor, Busan City took first place among local governments nationwide, receiving the Presidential Award.

The Job Award is an event where the government comprehensively evaluates and awards the job policy performance of 243 local governments nationwide (17 metropolitan and 226 basic local governments) from the previous year.

Busan City was recognized for achieving both quantitative and qualitative growth in jobs by discovering jobs that utilize local resources and developing resident-led job models last year.

In this evaluation, the "Korens EM Busan-type Job Project" by Korens Co., Ltd., which attracted the largest investment ever and created 4,300 jobs at once, received high marks.

Additionally, the bottom-up job project "Busan OK Job Project," where citizens directly discover jobs to solve local problems, was highly evaluated as a leading job creation model.

The "Busan Transportation Corporation Labor-Management Cooperation Job Creation," which involved concessions between labor and management to reserve jobs for future generations, the establishment of an integrated job evaluation system, and the systematic operation of financially supported job projects were also factors contributing to winning the grand prize.

With this award, the city secured 400 million KRW in incentive funds for job projects and plans to promote another project to discover good workplaces.

Park Seong-hoon, Deputy Mayor for Economic Affairs, said, "The achievement is even more meaningful as it was accomplished together with citizens under difficult conditions. I am confident that if we turn this crisis into an opportunity and work harder, a happy future will come for citizens and businesses."
