[Asia Economy Reporter Kangwook Cho] Shinhan Bank announced on the 29th that it has donated 200 million KRW in membership fees and donations to the Korean Red Cross.
The donation ceremony held the previous day was attended by Shin Ok-dong, President of Shinhan Bank, Shin Hee-young, Chairperson of the Korean Red Cross, and other officials. The membership fees and donations will be used to help neighbors struggling due to the COVID-19 pandemic and typhoon damage.
Since 2007, Shinhan Bank has established a "Social Contribution Partnership" with the Korean Red Cross and has been donating funds annually, with a total cumulative donation amounting to 2.6 billion KRW. Additionally, since 2001, employees have voluntarily participated in blood donation campaigns to share dreams and hope with children suffering from leukemia and pediatric cancer.
In particular, in April of this year, to overcome the difficulties in blood supply caused by COVID-19 and to raise nationwide interest in blood donation, President Shin Ok-dong and employees participated in a Love Blood Donation Sharing event.
President Shin said, "Shinhan Bank will always look after neighbors in need and continue to maintain steady interest and practice social contribution to coexist with the local community."
