61 New COVID-19 Cases Yesterday... The cumulative number of confirmed cases is 23,516

[Asia Economy Reporter Seong Giho] The Central Disease Control Headquarters announced on the 26th at midnight that the number of new confirmed cases of the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19) in the country increased by 61. Accordingly, the cumulative number of confirmed cases is 23,516.


Among the 61 new confirmed cases, 49 are locally transmitted and 12 are imported from overseas. The number of new confirmed cases fell below 100 again for the first time in four days since the 22nd.


Since the beginning of this month, as the spread of COVID-19 has somewhat slowed, the daily number of new confirmed cases was recorded in double digits for three consecutive days from the 20th to the 22nd (82, 70, and 61 respectively). However, it increased again afterward, recording triple digits in the 100s from the 23rd to the 25th (110, 125, and 114 respectively).


The number of new confirmed cases surged to 441 on the 27th of last month after the cluster infections in the Seoul metropolitan area intensified. However, it gradually decreased to the 300s and 200s, showing triple digits in the 100s for 17 consecutive days from the 3rd to the 19th of this month.
