Dadohaehaesang National Park and Local Governments Jointly Clean Marine Debris


[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Tae-in] The West Office of Dadohaehaesang National Park under the Korea National Park Service (Director Lee Cheon-gyu) recently announced that it collected and disposed of marine debris within the park caused by heavy rains and typhoons in cooperation with residents of Jindo County.


About 70 participants including park staff, Sinan County, Jindo County, volunteer activists, and local residents took part in this activity. Following the cleanup at Simok Beach in Dochodo-myeon, Sinan County on September 7, they focused on collecting a total of 8 tons of trash along the coastline around Bangjukgimi, Sangjodo, Jodo-myeon, Jindo County on September 24.


The office plans to continue joint cleanup activities to provide visitors with a pleasant environment when visiting the national park during the Chuseok holiday and the peak autumn season.


Oh Chang-young, Director of Marine Resources at the West Office of Dadohaehaesang National Park, stated, “Through regular marine debris collection activities within the national park, we will promote communication and establish a collection system between the park office and local governments to create a clean national park.”
