Online GSAT Planned for Second Half Recruitment
[Asia Economy Reporter Ki-min Lee] As the spread of the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19) accelerates again, Samsung Group has converted the training for new employees hired through this year's first half open recruitment across all affiliates to Ontact (online face-to-face).
According to Samsung on the 19th, new college graduate employees (level 3) who joined all Samsung affiliates through this year's first half open recruitment are receiving introductory training (SVP) online. Samsung affiliate new employees have traditionally gathered at training centers during the SVP period to participate in team presentations, sports competitions, plays, and other residential training. Because they can share experiences and build teamwork with new employees from different affiliates, the SVP training period has been regarded as a golden time for new employees within Samsung.

Samsung plans to conduct this SVP in three sessions, each lasting two weeks, from mid-month to September. New employees in the first session have been receiving training via online video chats from 8:30 AM to 6 PM on weekdays for about two weeks, from the 10th to the 21st. In this SVP, new employees receive education through an online system at home, while assigned senior mentors monitor and provide mentoring. A Samsung official explained, "We have prepared programs specialized for online to educate new employees at the usual level while preventing the spread of COVID-19."
In May, Samsung attracted attention by conducting the Samsung Aptitude Test (GSAT), the written exam for new employee open recruitment, online for the first time in history. At that time, Samsung had applicants access the program on their PCs to solve GSAT questions, and connected applicants' smartphone cameras to an application provided by Samsung for exam supervision. It is reported that Samsung is strongly considering conducting the GSAT online again for the second half open recruitment this year.
Samsung is actively utilizing Ontact for internal and external activities as well. In particular, Samsung Electronics, the eldest affiliate in the electronics sector, is leading Ontact by holding various new product launch events online. The Galaxy Unpacked event held online on the 5th to unveil new products such as the Galaxy Note20 attracted 56 million viewers worldwide. Samsung Electronics plans to hold Life Unstoppable online on the 2nd of next month to unveil new home appliance products.
