[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Nosik] Imsil-gun, Jeonbuk, is launching support for eco-friendly agricultural product packages to help producers and parents struggling due to COVID-19.

On the 29th, the county announced that together with Jeonbuk Province and the Imsil Office of Education, it will carry out the second phase of support for eco-friendly agricultural product packages to assist producers facing difficulties due to blocked sales channels caused by COVID-19 and to ease the economic burden on student households.

The second phase targets 1,858 households of students attending 41 kindergartens, elementary, middle, and high schools in Imsil-gun.

The agricultural product packages consist of seven items, including locally produced onions and potatoes, valued at approximately 32,000 KRW per package (including delivery fees).

The packages will be sequentially delivered via local courier services from the 30th to the 31st, with delivery expected to take about 1 to 2 days. Upon receipt, households should immediately open the packages and store the contents in a shaded area at room temperature or refrigerated.

Kim Gang-sik from Jisam-myeon, who produces and sells eco-friendly potatoes and onions, said, “Due to school delays and a sharp drop in consumption caused by COVID-19, we are going through a more difficult time than ever before. I am grateful that we can sell the potatoes and onions harvested in spring through these agricultural product packages.”

County Governor Shim Min said, “It is regrettable that the difficulties faced by farmers are increasing due to the rise in imported agricultural products and the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic. I hope that the support for agricultural product packages will help both parents and farmers, even if only a little.”
