Instead of Vacance, 'Baekcance'... Shinsegae Department Store Introduces Daily Hobby Classes for Homebodies

Instead of Vacance, 'Baekcance'... Shinsegae Department Store Introduces Daily Hobby Classes for Homebodies Puvilla Goods (Photo by Shinsegae Department Store)

[Asia Economy Reporter Seungjin Lee] Shinsegae Department Store will present 'Baekcance Content' for customers who want to spend a safe summer in the city until the 26th.

First, for customers who cannot travel abroad, an academy '100 Short-term Hobby Courses' has been newly established and introduced. Through Shinsegae Department Store's smart message (shopping information provided via text message), customers can receive recommendations for academy courses at their frequently visited stores and attend classes.

Recently, due to the novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19), most group courses at the academy have been canceled, but short-term hobby classes such as cooking continue to show steady demand. In particular, 'one-day' courses that do not require much time or visits are gaining popularity.

Starting from the 10th, Shinsegae will offer one-day hobby courses that anyone, regardless of age or gender, can easily learn for customers visiting the department store. Customers can easily apply for courses through the Shinsegae Department Store website, application, or phone inquiries.

Content for 'Gourmet Travel' is also prepared for customers who visit department store restaurants to escape the heat. From the 10th to the 26th, 'Gourmet Week,' available at all Shinsegae Department Store restaurant areas and ready-to-eat food corners, offers a coupon that gives a 5,000 KRW discount when purchasing food worth more than 10,000 KRW on the same day.

Through the Shinsegae Department Store app, customers can be introduced to popular summer menus and download discount coupons. Additionally, during the event period, customers who share the purchased food on social networks (SNS) will be eligible for an event giving Shinsegae mobile gift certificates and an iced Americano couple set.

Special gifts such as local specialties to revitalize the regional economy and exclusive character products available only at Shinsegae have also been prepared. To support the gim (seaweed) industry and the omija (Schisandra berry) farms in Mungyeong, Gyeongbuk, which are struggling due to export declines and falling prices at production sites, Shinsegae jointly purchased quantities with affiliated card companies to specially produce these gifts.

The 'Manjeon Gim Set' (available from the 10th) and 'Omiberry Original' (available from the 17th) products given by Shinsegae during the event can be received at each store's gift event venue when purchasing over 100,000 KRW with a Samsung Card on the same day.

Shinsegae Department Store's own character 'Poovilla' products for the MZ generation have also been prepared. When purchasing over 150,000 KRW with a Shinsegae affiliated card, customers can receive a beach towel featuring Poovilla and friends characters at the gift event venue.
