[Asia Economy Reporter No Woo-rae] ○…The Korea Ladies Professional Golf Association (KLPGA) has secured the IS Dongseo Busan Open.
On the 26th, a signing ceremony was held at the KLPGA office in Gangnam-gu, Seoul with IS Dongseo. This event fills the gap left by the cancellation of the Asiana Airlines Open and the MY Munyoung Queens Park Championship due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The tournament will take place over three days starting July 10th at the Stonegate Golf Club in Gijang, Busan. The total prize money is 1 billion KRW. IS Dongseo is the first comprehensive construction and building materials company in Korea, advancing as a global leader for the past 45 years.
Amid the COVID-19 situation, IS Dongseo has been conducting various projects such as rent reductions for commercial tenants, providing meal cards for children in need, and delivering relief supplies to traditional markets in the Busan area. Chairman Kwon Hyuk-woon said, "We are pleased to establish a partnership with the KLPGA and host this tournament," adding, "We will create a stage where the best players can fully demonstrate their skills." KLPGA Chairman Kim Sang-yeol expressed gratitude, saying, "This is welcome news like rain during difficult times caused by COVID-19," and noted, "They have also increased the total prize money by 200 million KRW."
