[Asia Economy Reporter Suwan Kim] Professor Seokyung Deok of Sungshin Women's University, who has been informing the world about Japan's historical distortion, revealed on the 8th that Japanese right-wing extremists are threatening him by even mentioning his children.

Professor Seo is currently campaigning to ban the Rising Sun Flag, a symbol of Japanese militarism, from the Tokyo Olympics.

In a post on his Facebook on the same day, Professor Seo said, "Too many right-wing extremists are threatening me in various ways, but this time they have really crossed the line."

He continued, "A few days ago, on Children's Day, they must have seen a photo I took with my daughter and sent me a DM (direct message) saying 'Be careful with your daughter too,'" criticizing them as "truly despicable people."

He added, "Anyway, even if my 7-year-old daughter saw such messages, she wouldn't bat an eye. Her guts are very strong, just like mine."

Finally, he said, "I will work even harder for these pitiful right-wing extremists. Until everyone gets so frustrated they have a nervous breakdown."

Earlier, Professor Seo announced through his Instagram the day before that he would launch a campaign to stop the International Olympic Committee (IOC) and the Japanese government from allowing cheering with the Rising Sun Flag at the Tokyo Olympics, postponed to next year due to the global COVID-19 pandemic.

He criticized, "Even though the Tokyo Olympics have been postponed by a year, they are trying to force cheering with the Rising Sun Flag, so it is necessary to widely inform netizens worldwide that 'Rising Sun Flag = war crime flag.' Using a flag that was used in war crimes again for cheering contradicts the Olympic spirit of world peace."

He also decided to spread this message on social networking services (SNS) in multiple languages including Korean, English, Spanish, Chinese, and Japanese.
