[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kang Woo-kwon] Busan's Gijang-gun announced on the 4th that it is currently undergoing administrative procedures with the goal of establishing Busan's first convergence-type urban agriculture park next year.
Gijang-gun plans to transform the Cheolma area, which has been left as vacant land within the development-restricted zone, into a space for environmental and citizens' mental and physical healing.
The county has been focusing administrative efforts on the establishment of this park for the past three years, and despite the review schedule being delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic, it plans to actively push to pass the related Busan city reviews and receive park approval within this year.
The urban agriculture park will be developed as a symbolic comprehensive experience space themed around urban agriculture on a 27,254㎡ (approximately 8,244 pyeong) site at 263 Jangjeon-ri, Cheolma-myeon, Gijang-gun, with a total investment of 10.5 billion KRW from city and county funds. It will serve to spread the value of urban agriculture and operate as a venue for urban-rural coexistence.
The county plans to provide citizens with facilities such as a 'lawn outdoor stage,' 'nature learning center,' 'agriculture experience center,' 'Gijang Chal Tomato garden,' 'smart farm,' 'Zelkova tree path and performance plaza,' 'agriculture experience field,' and 'crop cultivation area' as spaces for leisure activities, communion with nature, and sharing.
