April 1-10 Anyangcheon Embankment Trail Access Restriction and Visitor Safety Management, Basic Order Maintenance... This Year’s Singil 6-dong Cherry Blossom Festival and Yangpyeong 1-dong Cherry Blossom Festival Also Canceled
[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Yeongdeungpo-gu (Mayor Chae Hyun-il) will completely restrict access to the Anyangcheon embankment walking trail from April 1 to 10, continuing the "Spring Flower Social Distancing."
The Anyangcheon embankment walking trail, along with Yeouido, is a famous local cherry blossom viewing spot attracting many visitors every year. It is also a place where people usually enjoy light jogging and walking.
The district took preemptive measures for the Anyangcheon walking trail, where many visitors are expected this year, following the cancellation of the Yeouido Spring Flower Festival and the complete restriction of the Yeouido spring flower path.
From April 1 to 10, access will be restricted to a 3.2 km section of the Anyangcheon embankment walking trail between Sinjeonggyo and Yangpyeonggyo bridges.
Banners and barricades indicating access restrictions will be installed at the main entrances to the cherry blossom path within the restricted section.
Additionally, safety personnel stationed at the main entrances will patrol the restricted area regularly to prevent visitors from entering and to maintain basic order.
The district is also making continuous efforts to disinfect major public facilities such as restrooms and exercise equipment installed along the Anyangcheon embankment walking trail and to provide hand sanitizers. During the access restriction period (April 1?10), two restrooms located on the embankment walking trail will be temporarily closed.
Along with the Yeouido Spring Flower Festival, the local spring festivals held annually, the "Singil 6-dong Cherry Blossom Festival" and the "Yangpyeong 1-dong Cherry Blossom Festival," will also not be held this year.
At Singil 6-dong Singil Cherry Blossom Street, banners announcing the festival cancellation will be posted, and from April 1 to 10, a public-private-police cooperative "Social Distancing" campaign will be conducted to restrict visitors' access.
Yeongdeungpo-gu Mayor Chae Hyun-il stated, "For the life and safety of residents, following the complete closure of the Yeouido spring flower path, we will restrict access to the Anyangcheon spring flower path and cancel the Singil 6-dong and Yangpyeong 1-dong Cherry Blossom Festivals. We ask for residents' understanding and participation in the 'Spring Flower Social Distancing' to block community infections."
