LG Uplus, No More Limits on U+ Membership Points

LG Uplus, No More Limits on U+ Membership Points

[Asia Economy Reporter Koo Chae-eun] LG Uplus has revamped its membership system starting January 1 this year, offering unlimited membership points across all tiers.

On the 9th, LG Uplus announced that it will provide unlimited membership points to all subscribers regardless of the old or new membership system and tier, instead of the previous tier-based differential allocation. As a result, customers can now enjoy benefits freely at various partner stores without worrying about points.

The new membership system introduced by LG Uplus on January 1 last year determines tiers based on the annual usage amount of five major products: mobile service, internet, internet phone, IPTV, and home IoT. Previously, there were four tiers: ▲VIP+ ▲Diamond+ ▲Gold+ ▲General+, but from January 1 this year, a ▲VVIP+ tier was added, making a total of five tiers. The old membership was based on mobile plans, but the new membership expands the criteria to include usage amounts of four home products in addition to mobile plans, making membership upgrades easier.

To celebrate the introduction of the new tier, a promotion for VVIP+ customers will be held from the 10th to the 31st. By entering the event on the official website or the membership-exclusive app service U+ Members, 3,000 winners will be selected by lottery to receive a GS Caltex fuel voucher worth 5,000 KRW.

LG Uplus has also enhanced the convenience of the ‘My Kok’ service, launched for new membership VIP+ and VVIP+ as well as old membership VIP and VVIP tiers. ‘My Kok’ is an additional service provided beyond the basic membership benefits. Each ‘Kok’ can be used once per month, totaling 12 times annually.

The previous four types?▲Food Kok ▲Shopping Kok ▲Transport & Leisure Kok ▲Data Gift Kok?have been integrated into ‘Life Kok,’ simplifying the options to just two types: ▲Life Kok and ▲Movie Kok. Until last year, customers had to select one category and then choose benefits within that category. Now, with just one ‘Life Kok,’ customers can freely select desired benefits from partner companies across the original four categories.

Benefits within ‘Life Kok’ have also been enhanced. Starting this month, a 30% discount for Seoul Sky and a 40% discount for Lotte World Aquarium have been newly added, along with dessert items from Hollys Coffee and coffee items from Paul Bassett, existing partners. LG Household & Health Care Shop and LG Electronics Shop each offer an additional 1,000 KRW discount, totaling a 5,000 KRW discount. Customers can switch between Movie Kok and Life Kok once each in the first and second half of the year, totaling two times annually. For example, if many blockbuster movies are released in the first half, customers using Life Kok benefits can switch to ‘Movie Kok’ to receive monthly movie ticket benefits, then switch back to ‘Life Kok’ in the second half if they wish.

Lee Sang-heon, Head of Pricing Product Planning at LG Uplus (Executive Director), said, “By applying unlimited points to all LG Uplus membership customers from this year, customers can enjoy various benefits freely,” adding, “We will continue to enhance membership customer satisfaction by expanding benefits that customers can truly feel.”
