Jongno-gu Holds 2020 New Year's Greeting Event

[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] Jongno-gu (District Mayor Kim Young-jong) will hold the '2020 Year of the Rat New Year's Greeting Meeting' at 2 PM on the 6th at the AW Convention Center (255 Jahamun-ro).

This New Year's greeting meeting is an occasion to communicate and pledge harmony with the residents as the new year begins. About 700 people, including city and district council members and resident representatives, will attend, and the event will proceed in the order of ▲pre-event ▲main event ▲post-event.

The pre-event, which will open the New Year's greeting meeting, will be held from 1:30 PM to 2 PM. Key guests will write and post New Year's congratulatory messages, followed by the screening of a promotional video for one of Jongno-gu's key projects, the 'Urban Emptying' project. Then, the Changsin-Sungin Village Orchestra will present beautiful classical melodies on stage.

The main event will begin with the screening of the 'Jongno Residents' New Year's Wish Message' video, which captures residents' wish messages on video. It aims to appreciate the New Year's wishes conveyed by residents of various ages, including office workers and students, and to understand what hopes the residents hold for this year.

Additionally, Jongno-gu Mayor Kim Young-jong will deliver a New Year's address pledging the health of residents and the completion of Jongno as a premium city, followed by warm New Year's greetings from key guests.

Furthermore, heads of sister cities both domestic and abroad, including the mayors of Jeongeup, Andong, Yeoju, Poipet in Cambodia, and Ryde in Australia, plan to deliver warm New Year's greetings via video.

Moreover, the Jongno-gu Boys and Girls Choir and the Rak-eum Gugak Ensemble will prepare special performances and celebratory stages for the New Year's meeting, conveying the excitement of welcoming the new year and enlivening the audience.

Jongno-gu Mayor Kim Young-jong said, “We have closed the 2010s and welcomed the Year of the Rat, opening a new decade. Since the start of the 5th elected term to the current 7th elected term, there have been times when we received encouragement beyond our expectations and times when we heard affectionate criticism.” He added, “This year as well, together with 1,200 Jongno-gu public officials, we will do our best to complete Jongno as a premium city where people are treated most humanely and to create a community where all residents are equally happy.”
