Actor Nam Goong-min has been confirmed to join the growing cast of new TV series "City Conquest."

Nam, whose has played a significant role in propelling MBC’s weekend drama “Can You Hear My Heart” to success last year, will play alongside singer and actor Kim Hyun-joong in “City Conquest,” according to EYAGI Entertainment’s press release on Tuesday.

EYAGI officials explained that Nam will play Cha Ji-ryong, a two-faced character that is kind to his family but entrapped in hatred when it comes to his family issues.

Adapted from the comic book of the same title by Shin Hyung-bin, the forthcoming series is to begin shooting next month, aiming to hit the airwaves by the end of the year.

While the show’s broadcaster has yet to be settled, “City Conquest” has already been sold to distributers located in a number of Asian countries including Japan, Hong Kong, China and Taiwan.

With the sales of foreign distribution rights, the forthcoming show has raked in about 1.2 billion Korean won (10 million U.S. dollars).

Next to Nam, meanwhile, Kim will play a strong independent character named Baek Mir, who faces difficulties in life as an orphan, and Yang Yoon-ho of "IRIS" (KBS, 2009) has been set to direct the soap opera.
