Girls' Generation trio unit takes on Billboard chart with "TWINKLE"

The first mini-album of Girls' Generation's trio unit -- Taeyeon, Tiffany, Seohyun -- has placed within several music charts on U.S.' Billboard.com.

On Friday, Billboard.com's website showed that the trio unit's album, "TWINKLE," made its debut by registering fairly good records on the Billboard 200, Heatseekers Albums and Billboard's Independent Albums charts.

On Billboard's top 200, the single sat at No. 126 spot, making the unit the first Korean singers to place high on the list and the second Korean artists to enter the same chart.

K-pop idol group Big Bang scored the No. 150 spot with their fifth mini-album, "ALIVE," in March.

Additionally, the trio's mini-album also managed to come in second place on the Heatseekers Albums chart and ranked at No. 21 on Billboard's Independent Albums chart.

Tiffany, Taeyeon and Seohyun made their official debut as part of the nine-member group Girls' Generation in 2007. They have a number of hit songs under their belt including "Gee," "Oh!," "Run Devil Run," "Tell Me Your Wish," "MR. TAXI" and "The Boys."

As a trio unit, the girls staged their first performance on Mnet's "M! CountDown" yesterday and will continue to promote themselves on other music shows this weekend.
