Hallyu star Kim Hyun-joong has claimed the No. 2 spot on the prestigious Oricon weekly chart with his Japanese debut single. Oricon's official website revealed on Wednesday that Kim's first Japanese single "KISS KISS/Lucky Guy" ranked in second place on its weekly chart after moving some 100,000 copies since going on sale on January 25. This also makes him the first singer, taking into account both solo and group artists who made their debut after March 2009, to sell the most number of singles in a day in the country. The single, produced in three editions, includes the Japanese version of his hit songs "KISS KISS" which is also the title track, "Lucky Guy," "Break Down" and love tune "U." Kim, who signed with Universal Music Japan in November last year, is gearing up for an event commemorating the release of his single at the Yokohama Arena in the Kanagawa Prefecture on February 5. Kim made his debut as the leader of the popular boy band SS501 in 2005. He expanded his career into acting with a role in KBS’ smash hit series “Boys Over Flowers” in 2009, which made him a household name in Korea and Asia. ※ Any copying, republication or redistribution of 10Asia's content is expressly prohibited without prior consent of 10Asia.
