On November 12 (local time), the Turkish Ministry of National Defense announced that all 20 passengers aboard the Turkish military cargo plane that crashed in Georgia had died.
In a statement released that day, the Turkish Ministry of National Defense said, "On November 11, a C-130 military transport aircraft that took off from Azerbaijan to our country crashed at the Georgia-Azerbaijan border, resulting in the loss of our comrades," adding, "We extend our deepest condolences to the bereaved families and the nation in mourning."
The previous day, a Turkish Air Force C-130 Hercules tactical transport aircraft crashed in the Sighnaghi region of eastern Georgia. The Turkish side dispatched personnel to the site and began an investigation into the cause of the accident by analyzing the wreckage in cooperation with Georgian authorities.
The C-130 Hercules, produced by U.S. company Lockheed Martin, is a tactical transport aircraft operated by several countries, including South Korea.
