Seo Kyung-duk, a professor at Sungshin Women's University known as the "Dokdo Guardian," announced on the 24th that he has teamed up with KBS's flagship variety show "1 Night 2 Days" to air a special episode in celebration of Dokdo Day.
Recently, Professor Seo and the "1 Night 2 Days" team visited Ulleungdo and Dokdo in person, taking time to reflect on the diverse history of Dokdo.
In particular, they plan to communicate with viewers by presenting essential knowledge about Dokdo-something every Korean should know-through an entertaining quiz show format.
They also boarded a patrol vessel of the East Sea Regional Coast Guard, which protects Dokdo in the East Sea, to express their gratitude for the officers' dedication.
Most notably, with official permission, they will introduce in detail the "Korean Territory" rock, the mailbox, and the large Taegeukgi flag located at the summit of Dongdo on Dokdo, marking the first time a domestic variety show has done so.
Regarding this, Professor Seo stated, "I am proud to be able to properly introduce Korea's Dokdo through the national variety show '1 Night 2 Days' in celebration of Dokdo Day on October 25."
He also emphasized, "Recently, Korean variety shows have become popular not only in Korea but also among many international viewers, so this will be a great opportunity to naturally inform the world that Dokdo is Korean territory."
Meanwhile, the Dokdo special episode is scheduled to air for two consecutive weeks on KBS 2TV, on October 26 and November 2.
