Recently, through its official social media channels, the Seoraksan National Park Office stated, "Seoraksan 1275 Peak is a restricted area to protect the natural ecosystem and terrain," adding, "The rocks are slippery and the steep slopes pose a very high risk of falls and rockslides, making it extremely dangerous."

The office also requested the deletion of related online posts to prevent similar accidents. In addition, it plans to install more signs in the area to inform visitors that this is an unofficial trail.

1275 Peak is a prominent rocky summit located in the middle of the rugged Dinosaur Ridge in Seoraksan, and is one of the ridge's most iconic peaks. However, 1275 Peak is an unofficial trail where entry is prohibited, and climbing it can result in a fine of up to 500,000 won under the Natural Parks Act.

Nevertheless, photos and climbing videos featuring Seoraksan 1275 Peak continue to be posted on social media platforms such as YouTube and blogs. As of October 13, there were over 1,000 posts on Instagram with the hashtag "1275 Peak."

In fact, there have been cases where some hikers have attempted to climb the highly dangerous 1275 Peak. Last month, a climber in his 60s went missing near this area and was later found dead. However, since enforcement is based on on-site detection, authorities are reportedly facing difficulties in cracking down on violators.
