Jeong Cheongrae, leader of the Democratic Party of Korea, referred to the public sentiment during Chuseok and shared statements from supporters. These included a merchant's comment that business was thriving thanks to the livelihood support funds, as well as calls to prevent former President Yoon Sukyeol from being released and to expedite the dissolution of the People Power Party.
On October 9, Jeong Cheongrae posted on his social media under the title "Chuseok Public Sentiment." He shared the opinions of Democratic Party supporters and citizens, rather than his own assertions.
One post, attributed to a Democratic Party supporter, stated, "The rebellion party would have nothing to say even with ten mouths, yet they are shameless and brazen. Why are you not dissolving them quickly?" The post continued, "They are ruining the country. Carry out reforms thoroughly and swiftly. How long will you drag this out?" expressing frustration even with the Democratic Party itself.
Another comment added, "(During Chuseok greetings in the Honam region) At this rate, Yoon Sukyeol might get released. He must never be released," and, "He must not be pardoned later either. Those convicted of insurrection must be punished without exception (as I heard)."
Jeong Cheongrae also introduced remarks from a merchant who said the market had become more vibrant thanks to the livelihood support funds promoted by the Lee Jaemyung administration. The merchant said, "Business is good thanks to the livelihood support fund consumption coupons. Sales have increased by 30%," and, "Many customers are coming, and I feel happy for the first time in a while. I hope this happens more often."
