Ulsan Registers Urban Rooftop Garden "Guam Sandeulgang" as Its 8th Private Garden

The city of Ulsan has registered the rooftop garden "Guam Sandeulgang," located in Hwabong-dong, Buk-gu, as the eighth private garden in Ulsan under the "Act on the Creation and Promotion of Arboretums and Gardens."


"Guam Sandeulgang" is an urban rooftop garden, with 706 square meters (75.5%) of its total 833 square meters dedicated to green space.

The garden is home to more than 60 types of plants, including 35 species of trees, 20 species of shrubs, and 5 species of herbaceous plants. It is operated in an eco-friendly manner by utilizing an irrigation system that recycles rainwater.


In particular, the garden is noted for its excellent accessibility within the city and is equipped with convenient facilities such as a lounge, restrooms, and parking lot, making it a green resting place that is easily accessible to all citizens.

A city official stated, "Guam Sandeulgang is a garden voluntarily created by the private sector and serves as a model case of a green urban retreat. We will continue to discover outstanding private gardens and work together with citizens to build an ecological city in Ulsan."
