Joint Agreement for Inclusion in the 5th National Rail Network Construction Plan
Sancheong County in South Gyeongsang Province announced on September 1 that a joint agreement was held in the main conference room of Hamyang County Office to include the Daejeon~Namhae railway construction project in the 5th National Rail Network Construction Plan.
This agreement brought together seven counties-Sancheong, Okcheon, Muju, Jangsu, Hamyang, Hadong, and Namhae-to form a united front in response.

In particular, the participating counties agreed on the need for balanced regional development in areas suffering from transportation isolation due to insufficient railway infrastructure. They also pledged to work together to establish a tourism and economic zone connecting Deogyusan, Jirisan, and the southern coast, and to address the crisis of local depopulation.
Additionally, they decided to actively cooperate to ensure that the Daejeon~Namhae railway construction project is included in the 5th National Rail Network Construction Plan. This includes submitting a joint proposal to the central government outlining the following: resolving railway blind spots, creating a tourism belt, generating employment and revitalizing the local economy, and securing eco-friendly transportation options.
Accordingly, the seven counties plan to strengthen their joint response through a working-level consultative body and to continue multifaceted efforts, including submitting proposals to central government ministries and conducting public relations campaigns.
County Governor Lee Seunghwa stated, "The Daejeon~Namhae railway is not just for Sancheong, but a railway for everyone that will allow the entire southern region to grow together," adding, "The seven counties will unite and make every effort until the end."
