This Policy Field Tour was organized to inspect the recovery status of areas affected by heavy rainfall in July and to review future plans for permanent restoration.
On this day, Mayor Joo Gwangdeok visited the flood damage recovery site in Bupyeong-ri, Jinjeop-eup, where roads and bridges were damaged and embankments were washed away due to the overflow of Bongseonsacheon. At the site, he reviewed the results of emergency restoration and checked the status of permanent restoration of river facilities and the planned reorganization of Gwangneung Arboretum Road, which will be carried out with a special grant tax of 800 million won. In addition, for Bongseonsa No. 1 Bridge, the city plans to secure safety by preparing a structural improvement plan through expert consultation and resident briefings.
Next, at the section of the river near Songwonsa in Bupyeong-ri, he inspected the temporary reinforcement of facilities that were damaged by surface water runoff from forest land and river flow. Restoration work in this section is scheduled to continue until June next year.
Lastly, at the operation site of the Wangsukcheon pedestrian bridge (Swing Bridge) in Dasan-dong, he checked the emergency standby system and pre-control procedures. This bridge is designed to fold when the water flow increases, separating the two-way bridge during heavy rainfall. When a heavy rain advisory is issued, city staff are responsible for controlling access. Mayor Joo urged thorough pre-inspections and swift responses to ensure the safety of citizens even in the event of sudden extreme rainfall.

Mayor Joo stated, "This on-site inspection was an important process to address the damage caused by the heavy rainfall in July, ensure a rapid response, and establish permanent measures to prevent recurrence," adding, "We will continue to manage disaster prevention facilities and recovery projects without setbacks to create a safe city where citizens can feel secure."
Based on this inspection, the city plans to prioritize citizen safety and continue on-site communication to strengthen disaster response capabilities and ensure the smooth progress of policy initiatives.
