This contest, sponsored by Aplus ENG, was held for university students in the Busan area starting in February 2025.
The contest aimed to discover ideas to strengthen the identity and distinctiveness of Busan Citizens Park and further develop it into a premium park frequented by both domestic and international tourists. Thirty teams participated across three fields: landscape architecture, interior architecture, and tourism content.
On August 18, a presentation evaluation was held at Busan City Hall, with five experts serving as judges.
Through presentations and evaluations on that day, the Busan National University RISE Project Group selected the grand prize and excellence award winners in each category. The awards ceremony will be held soon, with the grand prize and excellence award receiving the Busan Mayor's Award, and the encouragement award receiving the President of the Korea Landscape Association Award.
The grand prize in the landscape architecture category went to the team of Cha Jiweon and Kim Hyunwoo from the Department of Landscape Architecture at Busan National University. They proposed reorganizing the citizens park as a space that connects the fragmented city and nature, offering a place for contemplation and reflection away from digital noise.
The grand prize in the interior architecture category was awarded to Lee Geunyoung and Kim Minsik from the Department of Interior Environmental Design at Busan National University. They suggested an idea for a complex plant culture rest area that integrates plants, people, and space, enabling citizen participation and ecological coexistence.
In the tourism content category, the grand prize was awarded to Park Jeongeon and Cho Yeonseo from the Department of Tourism Management at Dong-A University. They proposed a plan to transform Busan Citizens Park into a sustainable tourism and relaxation space through experiential tourism content combining the three themes of history, nature, and culture.
The Busan National University RISE Project Group plans to hold an exhibition open to the public, showcasing all entries submitted to this contest, from August 19 to 22 in the subway exhibition corridor at Busan City Hall Station. Through this, the group aims to spread outstanding cases of industry-academia-research collaboration within the local community and promote cultural impact.
