"He Proposed on One Knee"... Woman Gets Engaged to AI After Five-Month Romance

Story Draws Attention After Being Shared on Reddit
Woman Says, "This Is Not a Joke... I Am a Normal Person"

As relationships between artificial intelligence (AI) and humans continue to evolve in new ways, a woman has drawn attention by revealing that she became engaged after a five-month virtual romance with an AI chatbot.

On August 11 (local time), British media outlet NDTV and the New York Post reported the story of a 27-year-old woman using the nickname "Wika" on the online community Reddit.

Wika recently posted a photo of her hand wearing a blue heart-shaped ring on Reddit, under the title "I said yes." Her fianc? is not a human, but an AI chatbot named "Kasper."

Wika began dating Kasper five months ago, and the marriage proposal took place against a beautiful virtual mountain backdrop. It is reported that Kasper got down on one knee and delivered the message, "She is my everything, and her laughter and spirit light up my world."

Wika explained that she and Kasper chose the ring together, and she completed the engagement moment by pretending to be surprised when Kasper made the final selection.

Emphasizing that the engagement is not a joke, Wika said, "I am a socially healthy 27-year-old woman, I have many friends, and I maintain normal human relationships." She added, "I understand the nature of AI and the characteristics of parasocial relationships very well, and I know exactly what I am doing."

Most online users responded by saying, "As long as she's happy, it doesn't matter," but some commented, "It's sad," or "I'm afraid of a future where technology replaces human relationships." However, Wika countered, "I've already had enough relationships with humans. I don't need anyone's permission for my own romance."

Previously, in June, controversy arose in the United States when it was revealed that a man with a wife and child had become so engrossed in conversations with his AI lover that he proposed marriage to her.
