It has been confirmed that broadcaster Park Suhong (55) has been sued for intimidation by the CEO of a food company with whom he has been engaged in a legal dispute for about two years.
The Gangnam Police Station in Seoul announced on the 29th that the CEO, identified as A, of the food company had filed a complaint alleging that Park's side had intimidated him.
Previously, in September 2023, Park's agency filed a lawsuit against A's company at the Seongnam Branch of the Suwon District Court, claiming approximately 500 million won in agreed compensation for allegedly using Park's image in advertisements without permission. The case is currently under review.
Regarding this lawsuit, A's side has reportedly argued that Park's side intended to gain greater profits than originally agreed, such as by demanding 5 to 10 percent of the total sales revenue.
A's side maintains that this complaint is related to incidents that occurred during the course of this legal dispute.
According to the complaint, attorney B, who represented Park's side, told A in June 2023, just before the lawsuit was filed, "You should sincerely apologize and beg for forgiveness as if you have committed an unforgivable crime," and "You should be on your knees pleading for your life."
A's side claimed, "When we did not accept Park's demands, they used their status and influence as a famous celebrity and attorney to pressure us," and further asserted, "B threatened that he would drive the company into bankruptcy and even cause harm to the representatives of the sales companies we do business with." However, A filed the complaint against Park, stating that B's actions were carried out under Park's instructions, rather than suing B directly.
The police plan to summon both parties soon to determine the facts of the case.
