Hanwha Engine announced on July 23 that it has taken steps to strengthen worker safety in response to summer heat waves and heavy rainfall.
CEO Yoomoon Ki recently visited the ship engine assembly plant in Changwon, Gyeongnam, to directly inspect the working environment and safety management conditions during the peak heat season. He also toured the work site and listened to the concerns of employees.

To prevent heat-related illnesses, Hanwha Engine has installed freezers throughout the factory and provides bottled water and ice at all times. The company has also distributed personal cooling items such as cooling vests and headbands for cooling. Additional break times are granted according to the perceived temperature, and the company has established the 'Five Basic Rules for Heat Wave Safety,' regularly checking for compliance.
Safety measures have also been implemented for partner company workers. Emergency kits and protective equipment have been placed on-site, and heat wave response training is being conducted through safety seminars. CEO Yoomoon Ki stated, "Nothing takes precedence over the health and safety of our workers," adding, "Labor and management will communicate closely to implement practical safety measures."
