Guro District in Seoul (District Mayor Jang Inhong) will operate a special summer vacation program, the "2025 After-School Children's Physical Activity and Obesity Prevention Special Lecture," for children at local after-school care centers from July 25 to August 21.

Guro District to Offer "Physical Activity and Obesity Prevention Special Lecture" for Local Children Children who participated in last year's special lecture are receiving indoor curling experience education. Provided by Guro District.

This program has been prepared to address insufficient physical activity among children and to prevent childhood obesity. Approximately 400 children will participate at 14 local children's centers and Wooridongne Childcare Centers within the district.

Exercise specialists from the Guro District Health Center will visit each center to provide obesity prevention education and physical activity experiences. In addition, professional instructors will be invited to lead outdoor experiential sports activities such as curling and skating.

The special lecture consists of two programs. The first program features indoor physical activities and healthy lifestyle education using the Ministry of Health and Welfare's "Health Plus Gymnastics." It runs for one hour and helps children develop healthy lifestyle habits through education and experiences tailored to their level.

The second program allows each institution to choose either curling or skating as an outdoor experiential activity. It is conducted in small groups, enabling children to learn both the enjoyment of sports and the value of cooperation.

Participating institutions will operate the special lectures in a customized manner, based on their internal schedules and preferred programs through advance registration.

Jang Inhong, Mayor of Guro District, stated, "This special vacation lecture is meaningful in that it naturally helps children recognize the importance of physical activity and creates a healthy environment for their growth," adding, "We will continue to actively support the health of local children through a variety of programs in the future."
