The Low Carbon Certification is a system that evaluates and recognizes the efforts of companies and public institutions to reduce carbon emissions. The Korea Forest Welfare Institute was awarded the certification in recognition of its management achievements that align with the government's carbon neutrality goals.
Since its establishment in 2016, the Korea Forest Welfare Institute has created 152.5 kilometers of barrier-free sharing trails nationwide, 270,714 square meters of urban forests, and 2,368,000 square meters of sharing forests within welfare facilities.
In addition, the institute has contributed to the realization of carbon neutrality through ongoing eco-friendly management activities, such as constructing a seven-story eco-friendly wooden building?the tallest of its kind in Korea?and exceeding the greenhouse gas reduction targets for public institutions for eight consecutive years.
Nam Taeheon, President of the Korea Forest Welfare Institute, stated, "The Low Carbon Certification is an external recognition of the institute's efforts to practice carbon neutrality," and added, "The Korea Forest Welfare Institute will continue to establish itself as an eco-friendly public institution trusted by the public and take the lead in achieving '2050 carbon neutrality.'"
