Proving Top Research Competitiveness Among Domestic Universities
Sejong University announced on June 20 that it ranked third domestically for the second consecutive year and 238th globally in the 2025-2026 Best Global Universities Rankings released by the world-renowned university evaluation organization, US News & World Report.
US News & World Report, an American weekly news magazine that began evaluating universities and graduate schools in the United States in 1983, publishes annual global university rankings based on research performance and academic reputation of universities worldwide.
This year’s evaluation covered 2,250 universities around the world. Sejong University maintained its third-place position domestically for two consecutive years, following Seoul National University and Yonsei University. In the global rankings, Sejong University rose three spots from last year to reach 238th place.
In particular, in this year’s evaluation, Sejong University ranked 20th globally for the proportion of international collaborative research relative to its home country, 38th for the proportion of papers in the top 10% by citations, 89th for the proportion of papers in the top 1% by citations, 35th in water resources, 51st in mathematics, 70th in electrical and electronic engineering, and 99th in artificial intelligence.
President Eom Jonghwa stated, "This result reflects the research-oriented educational model that Sejong University has pursued, our ongoing investment in research, and the expansion of international cooperation." He added, "We will continue to grow as a leading global research university, based on outstanding research achievements and social contributions."
